Sexi Lexi - a song by the Distorted Penguins
Lexi (L.S. Matthews) - Lexi, 12, wakes up in the forest with no knowledge of who she is, where she lives, or what happened to her. She makes her way toward the lights of a city where she is hit by a car as she wanders through the streets. A kindly ex-boxer takes her to the Shelter, where someone seems to recognize her, and where she is safe from street criminals and other horrors. Gradually Lexi remembers bits and pieces of her old life, but she is surprised when she finds out that she has a grandmother and an identical twin, and then learns that she is the daughter of a pop-music star recently killed in an automobile accident. As she adjusts to her newfound identity, Lexi faces some important decisions about what to do with her wealth and how she wishes to live life with her new family. Recommended for ages 9-12.
Lexi James and the Council of Girlfriends (Melissa Jacobs) - Meet the Council of Girlfriends: Grace, the relentless romantic; La Diva Lola, a celebrity chef with a secret sex life; Mamma Mia, who took the Husband & Children exit to the suburbs; the fabulous Ellie Archer, a journalist who follows her heart to Paris; and Mistress of the Universe/PR exec Lexi James, a heroine more Jo March than Bridget Jones. Lexi has a lot of women in her life, but no man. She was engaged to Mr. Almost Perfect, but called off the wedding after she had a meltdown in a suburban supermarket. Still dealing with the debris of that failed relationship, Lexi is terrified of making another committment, and another mistake. Fortunately everyone--from the members of the COG to the bubbies at the Jewish Retirement home where she volunteers--has some advice for Lexi on what she should do next. Recommended for ages young adult.
Lexi the Firefly Fairy (Daisy Meadows) - The Night Fairies' magic is missing --- and now Fairyland is in the dark! Rachel and Kirsty can't wait for their week at Camp Stargaze! They'll get to roast marshmallows, tell spooky stories, and sleep in cool cabins. But when the Night Fairies' magic goes missing, Rachel and Kirsty have another activity to add to their list --- helping their fairy friends! Jack Frost has kidnapped all the fireflies. Now Rachel and Kirsty have to help Lexi the Firefly Fairy track them down --- but can they do that in the dark? Recommended for ages 3-7.
Lexi's Tale: Park Pals Adventures (Johanna Hurwitz) - The adventures of a guinea pig and his friend Lexi, a squirrel, shows the reader how to survive the wilds of Central Park. Lexi has a vast extended family (including brother Madison, sister Sixty-two, and cousin Columbus), and he quotes extensively from his mother, passing along her wisdom to his pal. PeeWee, who has a near miss with the jaws of a dog, trusts humans and eventually convinces Lexi to believe in them, too. Brewster's soft, small pencil illustrations have a tender quality. This clever story is chock-full of positive messages, but also contains enough adventure and suspense to hold young readers' interest. Recommended for ages 9-12.
